Reconciliation

Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God's mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by examples, and by prayer labors for their conversion. CCC 1422

St. Cecilia parish offers the sacrament of Reconiliation on Saturdays from 4:00pm to 4:50pm, prior to Saturday evening Vigil Mass and by appointment.

If you have not been to the sacrament for some time, it is recommended that you make an appointment with our Pastor to help you in this meaningful and healing moment.

You can contact the Parish Office at 918-341-2343.

Why Confess Your Sins?

Apart from the many benefits that arise from this great sacrament, it is a moral necessity in order to confess our sins. We are required to confess at least once a year and receive the Eucharist at least once a year, at Easter. But to continue to receive Communion weekly or daily, we must confess our mortal sins prior to receiving Holy Communion. There are more mortal sins than we might know, by the way. If there is mortal sin on your soul, you cannot receive Communion without first going to confession.

In the end, confession is a beautiful sacrament of God's mercy and should not be looked at as a "requirement," but as an "opportunity" to receive God's love. It gives us the ability to repair our relationship with God and with the Church, opening us up to a shower of God's grace.

We should confess because we love God, not because we "have to," though the requirements are there to lead us along the path of eternal life.

What if I can’t make it to confession before next Sunday’s Mass?

You can go to Mass without coming up for Communion. In fact, it is completely normal and there are times when we cannot come up for Communion. In these cases, we remain in our seat and pray for God to bless us and to inspire us to go confess our sins as soon as we can.
